Positive people say:
I came to South Australia from another country and knew nobody. When I contacted Positive Life SA they were so welcoming and had so much valuable information to share with me about where I could access my treatments and link with other positive people. Even though I was missing my family I was made to feel welcomed and I felt happy.
― Man living with HIV who is resettling from overseas
When PLSA had no option but to close the PLC community centre we were devastated… Four years on the resilient HIV positive community is still here thank goodness. Attending the monthly Positive Lounge Gathering is what keeps us going. Without social opportunities to meet, connect and build peer networks, we would be so isolated and disconnected from long term friends and workers.
― Couple living with HIV and their three children
During the harder months of COVID-19 it was a struggle financially and I was not taking my HIV medication or eating properly. PLSA referred me to the Community Pantry which was providing home delivered groceries and fruit and vegetables. I was able to get back on track with my medications plus I really looked forward to the brief social chat from across my front driveway.
