Positive Living Centre

Our Positive Living Centre location at Glandore provides a safe and supportive environment to meet other HIV positive people, talk with our Health Promotion Officersabout personal wellbeing, HIV treatments and/or clinical issues, pursue individual health research, just relax or even access our complementary therapies services.

On site at Glandore we run an emergency food store called The HIVE (run by volunteers), a Clean Needle Program (CNP), No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS) and assist with access to the Red Ribbon Bobby Goldsmith Fund (RRGBF).

At the Positive Living Centre people can come and access:

  • health promotion resources
  • short term support
  • referrals to other support agencies
  • advocacy
  • treatments information
  • community drop-in
    • reading library
    • internet
    • family space
    • games area
The HIVE

The HIVE provides emergency food relief to people living with HIV/AIDS in South Australia who are experiencing financial hardship. To access the HIVE you need to be registered as a Full Member with Positive Life SA and provide us with a copy of a current Health Care Card (aka Pensioner Concession Card).

PSB

The Positive Speakers Bureau (PSB) is a highly committed and diverse group of HIV Positive people who aim to inform the wider community about the issues of living with HIV/AIDS including:

  • prevention
  • education
  • harm reduction
  • promotion of safer behaviour
  • stigma & discrimination

Complementary Therapies

Positive Life SA runs a Complementary Therapies Clinic staffed by trained practitioners who generously give of there time to provide therapies free of charge to HIV positive people and those affected. Therapies available generally include massage and spiritual healing though vary from time to time. Small Loans Program

The Small Loans Program can provide up to a maximum of twenty dollars to assist HIV positive members through to their next payday when it is expected the loan will be repaid.  There is a limited amount of money available to this program and its ongoing viability is dependent upon people repaying their loans promptly.

Positive Life SA pays for ambulance subscriptions for people living with HIV who have a healthcare card.

Call us at Positive Life SA to access the RRBGF to pay for your Ambulance subscription.

If you have an existing Ambulance Subscription, please check its expiry date. Renewals made after expiry dates may mean extra costs.

Held every Friday at the Glandore Community Centre, you can get a delicious main course and dessert for just $5! Run by Positive Life SA joint with the City of Marion, $5 Dollar Fridays are open to both Positive People and all other members of the community.
